Pride is a practice that we’re learning together, and we’re growing stronger and more capable every day.
The distinct sense of Filipino pride, of being proud of our roots, of knowing that what we do is important–both culturally and as part of our enduring legacy–is my biggest driver for why I’m working on my current project.
When I first started writing, I found only a handful of publications where my own topical interests of magical realism and mythology would fit. You all know, as much as I do, the feeling of being “the only” when you come into a space. As I explored more, I realized we have the opportunity to do more as individuals within a larger community as we create, publish, and bring to life our own intellectual properties.
I’ve created DILIM Press to invest in the success of our authors and poets, and to widen their reach. You’ll find twenty-five global Pinoy creatives in our upcoming inaugural anthology, currently available on Kickstarter.
If you’re a creator: continue to dream, investigate, collaborate, and share your incredibly fantastic creative ideas, your starry remembrances, your deeply personal ideas. What you experience as a Filipino, Filipino American, Filipino Canadian, Filo, Kiwipinoy, OFW, someone far from home or a kababayan multiple generations removed from the motherland—your experiences have meaning, and you matter.
If you’re part of the community: share and repost when you see work from a Filipino creator. Consider buying one item off their backlist, or following them on Instagram.
Creatives feel better supported when you like, subscribe, and share their work. All of us feel more connected when we realize we’re not alone on our shared journey.
"Galleon Dreaming: Anthology of Dark Fiction from the Philippine Diaspora" is releasing in 2027 and we couldn’t be more proud to highlight the work of Abi Andoy, Christopher Villanueva Blackett, Sheryll Bonilla, Christine Liwag Dixon, Cassiopeia Gatmaitan, Ally Guirjen, Al Osiris Ingking, A. S. Kresnak, Faith Lakasan, Christian Hanz Lozada, Michael Angelo Mahinay, Samuel Marzioli, J. J. de Melo, Maleia Mortis, Michael Oliveros, Jules P. F., Kris Pajarito, Thea C. Perales, Noelle Grace O. Pico, Zeny May Recidoro, Marie Sinadjan, Joshua Lim So, Nikki Stinson, Michelle Tang, and B. C. Vidal Jr.
Let’s tell our own stories. The world is waiting for them!
